Geological data, especially such derived by drilling, is subject to this directive as well as to the directive on public access to environmental information, even though there was no recognizable legislative intent to cover them. Whether or not geological data can be characterized as commercial or industrial information and therefore can be exempt from public access to information, is subject of this paper.
