The article deals with the question, if environmental law can be positively – in sense of innovation and sustainability – influenced by more direct plebiscitary involvement. The chances of institutional interaction between direct democracy and politics can be demonstrated by two current examples of plebiscitary legislation in the republic of Bavaria.
