Gewässerunterhaltung zwischen Verkehrssicherung und ökologischer Rekonstruktion
Since the amendment to the Water Management Act in 2002 in course of the implementation of the Water Framework Directive, the maintenance of water bodies is defined as maintenance and development of the water body and associated with management objectives. Since then, the institutions responsible for water maintenance have made an important contribution to the achievement of the management objectives with their runoff-related measures, bringing the water bodies closer to the status required by law. Thus, water maintenance as runoff-control, which is now more aligned with the ecological demands for the water bodies than before 2002, continues to also serve the benefit of the owners of land in the lateral catchment area.
